Collection: Piankhi — Pharaoh of Kush

In 728 BCE, the Kushite king Piankhi marched his army north from Nubia, conquered city after city along the Nile, and took Egypt — becoming Pharaoh of both Nubia and Egypt simultaneously. He is the founder of the 25th Dynasty, the Nubian dynasty that produced Egypt's Black Pharaohs. Piankhi did not conquer Egypt in the manner of a barbarian invader — he arrived as a champion of Egyptian religion, appalled at how poorly the northern rulers were maintaining the temples of Amun. He restored the temples, observed Egyptian ritual with meticulous precision, and then governed the combined empire from his capital at Napata. He considered himself more Egyptian than the Egyptians.

These signs carry the Kushite crown, the double uraeus, the Nubian bow, and the army that took the most ancient kingdom in the world.
