Collection: The Mongol Horse — Warriors of the Steppe
The Mongol warrior and his horse were a single organism. From the age of three, Mongol children learned to ride. By adulthood, a Mongol archer could fire ten accurate arrows per minute from a galloping horse while simultaneously steering with his knees and standing in the stirrups. Each warrior traveled with five horses, switching mounts to maintain speed across distances that European cavalry could not match. The Mongol horse — small, shaggy, unglamorous — could survive on grass alone where European warhorses required grain. The steppe itself was the Mongol army's greatest advantage: they were always at home.
These signs carry the Mongol pony at full gallop, the composite bow, the quiver of a hundred arrows, and the endless grass of the greatest cavalry culture in history.
