Scarab — Symbol of Rebirth

The Egyptians watched the scarab beetle roll its ball of dung across the sand and saw the sun itself — the great disc being pushed across the sky by divine hands. The scarab Khepri represented the morning sun, creation, and the eternal cycle of transformation. Carved in lapis lazuli, gold, and carnelian, the scarab was placed over the hearts of mummies to protect them on their journey to the afterlife.
