Collection: Ronin — The Masterless Warrior
When a samurai's lord died or was dishonored, the samurai became ronin — a wave man, adrift without anchor. Some became mercenaries. Some became criminals. Some became the most dangerous warriors in Japan, freed from the obligations of service and accountable only to their own code. The 47 ronin who waited two years to avenge their master — then surrendered themselves for execution after completing the act — became the defining story of loyalty, patience, and the samurai soul. They are buried together at Sengakuji temple, still receiving incense from visitors four hundred years later.
These signs carry the broken sword, the masterless path, and the 47 lanterns of Sengakuji.
