Mokosh — Goddess of Earth and Fate

She spins the thread of fate. She is the only female deity in the primary Slavic pantheon — the earth mother, the spinner, the goddess of women's work, fertility, water, and the destiny that cannot be avoided. Mokosh's name shares a root with moisture and wetness — she is the damp earth that receives seed and gives back crops, the sacred feminine principle that balances Perun's masculine thunder. When Christianity arrived in Slavic lands, the folk veneration of Mokosh transferred seamlessly to the Virgin Mary. Her holy day became Friday. Her thread is still being spun.
