Ilé-Ifè — The Sacred City of Origin

In the beginning, Oduduwa descended from the heavens on an iron chain, carrying a calabash of sand and a five-toed hen. Where the sand fell and the hen scratched, the earth was created. That place became Ilé-Ifè — the navel of the world, the city from which all Yoruba kings trace their bloodline, the sacred ground where human civilization began for a people who now number over 100 million across the globe.

These signs carry the beaded crown, the bronze heads of Ifè, and the symbols of the first city.
